North Carolina Medicaid now covers people aged [REDACTED_NUMBER] through [REDACTED_NUMBER] years with higher incomes than in the past . So you may be able to get health care coverage through Medicaid now even if you did n't qualify before . We encourage everyone to apply , even if they 're not sure if they 're eligible . We already see the impact expansion has on improving the health and lives of hardworking North Carolinians through the almost [REDACTED_NUMBER] people who have already enrolled . And that is just in two months . Tonight we 'll provide guidance on the basics of what Medicaid is , who 's eligible for it , and how to apply . We 're so glad to have you both with us . Most people who qualify for Medicaid under these new rules , like some of you watching and listening , are working adults . Many of you work in childcare centers , grocery stores , nursing homes , clothing stores , hotels and restaurants . You may work part time during specific seasons , throughout the year , or full time . They may not have comprehensive health insurance through your work . We are thankful for the important work that you do and now excited that you will have potential life changing to have access to health care coverage thanks to Medicaid expansion here in North Carolina .
